Knotted Wire Gun Dogs
Ike
Ike has been the driving force of the creation of Knotted Wire Gun Dogs. To have an “old soul” dog enter your life as a puppy is something special.
He’s the definition of a light switch dog. He’s happy to just lay at your feet and be with you for days at a time just chilling. But when its time to work and hunt, he’s been known to cover over 50 miles in a day and hunt for 7 or more days straight. He has no quit when doing what he loves. He has now hunted in 8 states, from North Dakota and Montana on the Canadian boarder down to New Mexico and Arizona just a few miles from the Mexican boarder. He handles extreme conditions with little thought and has an amazing nose and a staunch point. Has no issues switching species and learns quick how to work and hold different species under many conditions.
Dally
Dally came to us as a 3 year old started dog from a local kennel. She has her AKC show title and is a champion. She has an extremely high prey drive and has been proven to throw dogs that love to hunt and have that same prey drive. She also has beautiful pups if you’re looking for lots of furnishings and absolutely no doubt your dog is a GWP.

Dibs
Dibs is a little fire ball. Yes, she is an AKC registered German Wirehair Pointer. But as you can see, she looks more like a shorthair pointer and her type of coat is called a “slick”. She has very short hair and no furnishings. We pair her with studs that have heavy furnishings and usually get pups with slick to very tight coats and a 3 to 5 o’clock shadow on their chin.
Dibs works closer than Ike and Reno. She’s always had a nice natural point and has been outstanding at honoring or backing another dog. Dibs is very intent and intense on keeping up with what everyone is doing while hunting. She splits her focus on hunting and finding prey but equally on keeping track of the other dogs as well as the hunter. More often than not, she’s backing a point of another dog before I know the other one is on point. She also has a retrieve drive that rivals most retriever breeds. She handles the desert with ease and requires very little water while hunting. Yet in extreme cold conditions, usually when in water, ice and snow for prolonged periods, Dibs will show signs that the chill is getting to her. If you wanting a GWP for late season waterfowl, I’d steer you more toward a Dally or Reno bred pup. But if your all upland in early hot and warm conditions, hunting early season waterfowl or traveling south to hunt desert quail, Dibs has pups that will handle that like a walk in the park.
Reno
Reno is our latest addition. What a chill, and I mean CHILL sweetheart! She has the Cascade breeding in her pedigree much like Ike does. Her temperament and attitude remind me so much of him and I would call her an “old soul” dog as well.
She has a fantastic nose, high prey drive, very high patience and covers a lot of ground efficiently. She has a great retriever drive and the softest mouth. She barely puts a feather out of place making her retrieves. Reno loves to please and hates it when anyone get scolded! She learns quickly and is always trying to do what’s expected and desired. Reno is another “light switch” beauty and is all “Off’ when she’s chilling in the house, but wow is she all go in the field! She has the perfect GWP coat and amount of furnishings, in my opinion.
Sesi
Sesi is or one remnant yellow lab. Having trained and hunted with Labs for over 35 years and then making the big switch to GWP’s when Ike came on the scene, Sesi came to us through breeding our sweet, sweet Drake, who disappear in early September 2017 to never be found. She is a very intelligent dog with very high energy and drive. She hunts upland and waterfowl equally with great passion. Her pups have been called the most intelligent dogs their owners have ever adopted and trained. She is a lover and a pleaser and is very athletic. She is an American type and when we’ve bred her to a European type, has had a very nice combination of qualities pup.
